Lockdown enforced to protect countrymen: Health DG

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) director general Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam has said that the lockdown has been enforced to protect countrymen from Covid-19 second wave.
"In order to implement the lockdown, everyone must be aware and follow the government instructions," he made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at the Circuit House after inspecting the Coronavirus unit of Manikganj District Hospital on Monday.
Letters have been sent to all District Councilors, SPs and concerned authorities across the country from the Department of Health to make the lockdown effective. Moreover, campaigns are being launched to make people aware, he said.
Regarding the Covid vaccine, the DG said, "We were very cohesive at the beginning of the vaccination programme. The first dose will be given and all the preparations have been completed of giving Covid-19 second dose from 8 April."
The health DG said that Manikganj district hospital has been inspected. The coronavirus unit will be placed there. All the facilities will be arranged by 8 April.
