Jamuna Group donates Tk10 crore to PM’s relief fund

Jamuna Group has donated Tk10 crore to Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to help the government combat the outbreak of Covid-19.

Chairman of the business group Md Nurul Islam handed over the donation cheque to Ahmad Kaikaus, principal secretary to the prime minister, on Sunday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the cheque handover ceremony through a video conference from her official Ganabhaban residence.

The prime minister talked to Md Nurul Islam after the handing over of the cheque.

Jamuna Group Managing Director Md Shamim Islam and other directors were also present on the occasion.

The business conglomerate said it will also send 13,000 reusable personal protective equipment (PPE), 75,000 surgical masks and N95 facemasks, 2,000 US-certified CE Covid-19 testing kits to different departments of the government.

"Imbued with the spirit to do something for the country, we will stand by the government. All of us should come forward according to our ability and lend our hands to the people," said Md Nurul Islam.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her gratitude towards Jamuna Group for making the donation to her relief fund at this moment of crisis like in the past.
