A consignment of 12 lakh doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, gifted by the neighbouring India, has arrived Dhaka today afternoon.
The vaccine doses came at a time when India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Bangladesh on a two-day official visit to attend the golden jubilee of Bangladesh Independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A special flight carrying the vaccine landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1.45pm today, Md Shahriar Sazzad, health officer at the airport, confirmed the arrival to The Business Standard.
The vaccines will be taken to the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) in the capital's Tejgaon area.
Earlier on 21 January, India gifted 20 lakh doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh.
