A youth of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira, who returned from India, has been tested positive with the novel coronavirus.

He recently entered into the country through Jashore's Benapole land port. Jashore Health Department quarantined him at Benapole Immigration due to high body temperature. Later his samples were collected and the report received on Saturday afternoon showed that he was coronavirus positive.

Jashore Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shahin said that the young man from Satkhira is being treated in isolation at Sharsha Upazila Health Complex in Jashore.

Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Hussain Safayat said, "Jashore District Civil Surgeon reported the incident. As no coronavirus positive patient has not been officially identified in Satkhira yet, we requested the Jashore Health Department to provide medical services to the young man. The Civil Surgeon agreed and arranged for the young man to be provided medical services by the Jashore Health Department."
