Bangladesh will receive a total of 12 lakh additional vaccines as a gift from the Indian government.
A special flight from India's Mumbai carrying the vaccines is expected to land in the capital's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on 26 March.
Earlier, India gifted 2 million Oxford vaccine doses to Bangladesh in January.
Bangladesh administers over five million Covid-19 vaccine doses one and a half months after the launch of the nationwide mass vaccination programme.
Tthe nationwide vaccination drive started on 7 February after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the programme in a small testing phase in the end of January.
As many as 5,069,049 people were given their first vaccine shots, a media statement from the Medical Information Services of the Directorate General of Health Services said on Wednesday.
