State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Health Secretary Abdul Mannan today received Covid-19 vaccine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital.

Five minutes after receiving the vaccines, the minister said, "There is no side effects. I am not feeling unwell. I have taken, everyone else should take the vaccine."

Zunaid Ahmed Palak came live from his Facebook page after receiving the vaccine and expressed his experience.

Economist, Wahiduddin Mahmud also received the vaccine today.

Earlier today, the pilot Covid-19 vaccination programme started in five hospitals in the capital.

So far 560 health workers will receive vaccines from the hospitals.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from her official residence Ganabhaban on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the programme, which aims to vaccinate 20% of the country's population with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

Bangladesh currently has 70 lakh doses of the vaccine Covishield in stock.

Of those 50 lakh doses are purchased and 20 lakh doses were gifted by India.
