Govt orders to shift village markets to open spaces
While moving through the markets, people cannot maintain social distancing between them. That poses a risk of covid-19 infection among the people.
To prevent spreading the novel coronavirus in the country, the government on Sunday asked local authorities to shift food markets to the nearest open grounds.
As most of the food markets in Bangladesh are congested people cannot maintain social distance while moving through the markets, posing a risk of Covid-19 infection, said a press release from the local government department.
"To ensure people are maintaining social distances while moving into the markets, we have asked the local authorities to take the necessary steps for shifting food markets to the nearest open grounds and spaces like school fields or playing grounds," Ministry of local government said in an order they issued to shift the markets.
