The Bangladesh government, in a circular issued on Tuesday, made it mandatory for everyone to wear masks throughout the country.

The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has made masks mandatory at all offices, hospitals, educational institutions, religious centres, shopping malls, shops, markets, buses, trains, flights, readymade garment (RMG) factories, hotels, restaurants and while in social gatherings.

The government also asked pedestrians, rickshaw-pullers and hawkers to wear masks, and advised everyone to wear masks even at home, if any of their family members start showing Covid-19 symptoms.

In the circular, the government asked the authorities concerned to ensure that everyone wears masks while availing different services. It also called on local administrations, hospital authorities and owners' associations to implement the directive.

Bangladesh today confirmed 41 more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 3,057 new cases of infection testing 12,898 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 2,709 and the number of total infections stood at 210,510.
