Four including doctor test positive for COVID-19 in Chattogram

Four people including a doctor were tested positive for COVID-19 in Chattogram on Wednesday night.

The tests were conducted by Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITID).

Hasan Shahriar Kabir, director of Chattogram Divisional Health Office (DGHS), said, "165 samples were tested. Of them, four were tested positive for coronavirus. Three of them are from Chattogram and one from Laxmipur."

The doctor who was tested positive is from Fatikchari upazila of Chattogram. He was working at the flu corner at Najirhat Upazila Health Complex.  He is 29 years old.

The two other coronavirus positive patients of Chattogram are from Lalkhanbazar, Baluchora area of the city. Both of them are 42 years old.

Until Wednesday, 1,885 samples were tested at BITID from March 26. Of them, 79 tested positive for COVID-19. Among them, 43 are from Chattogram.

Of them, seven people returned home after recovering from the disease until Wednesday and five died.

Among the coronavirus positive patients of Chattogram division, 27 were from Laxmipur, four from Noakhali, three from Bandarban and two from Feni.
