They had been working with the virus in their body for the past few days
Four workers of textile factory in Gazipur had been working with coronavirus in their body for the past few days after the factory was reopened amid the ongoing shutdown.
Two among the infected patients are father and daughter, while the other two are sisters.
All of the four coronavirus positive workers hail from Kaukandi village of Tahirpur upazila under Sunamganj district. They live in a rented house in Gazipur.
They had been working at the factory with the virus in their body for the past several days.
The infected patients said they had gone to their village after their factory was shut down for the time being.
"Samples were collected from us in our village for coronavirus test on April 22. We had to come back to Gazipur before getting the test result as the factory reopened suddenly. The test result came out on Monday (May 4). Police and local public representatives informed us of our results the following day after we had returned from work," they added.
Dr Muhammad Shahin, health and family planning officer of Gazipur Sadar upazila said, "We locked down the patients' houses immediately after being informed by Tahirpur upazila health and family planning officer on Tuesday. We will collect samples from them for a re-test."
Sushant Sarker, additional superintendent of Gazipur industrial police said, "Factory owners and garment workers are not following health guidelines. This is increasing the risk of mass spread of the virus."
"It will be impossible to prevent the spread of the virus if the situation goes on like this," he further said.
