DMCH burn unit starts admitting Covid-19 patients
Patients began being admitted around 12pm on Saturday
The burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has started admitting novel coronavirus patients.
The admission procedure began around 12pm on Saturday. Three hundred novel coronavirus patients will be admitted to the hospital in the first phase. The hospital is preparing to admit another 600 patients in the second phase.
DMCH Director Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin said, "We have admitted around 15-20 patients till now."
A doctor at the hospital said DMCH is officially admitting both suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients to the triage and fever clinic for treatment. A separate ward has been prepared for patients suspected of having Covid-19.
So far, only the burn unit building is being used to treat and admit Covid-19 patients. The hospital will start admitting and treating patients at the DMCH 2 building from next week.
Bangladesh, today, confirmed five more deaths from the novel coronavirus and 552 new cases of the virus.
With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 175 and the number of total infections stood at 8,790.
