This Covid-19 vaccine will be administered from tomorrow

The Business Standard today obtained a picture of the Covishield, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca-Oxford University, a day before the government is going to start vaccination campaign here.

Some 20 lakh doses of the vaccine, manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, initially arrived in Dhaka as a gift from Indian government and later a consignment of 50 lakh doses reached here as a part of purchased 3 crore doses of the vaccine.

As Bangladesh gears up for nationwide vaccination drive with Covishield, the first dry run will be held today at Kurmitola General Hospital.

The doses will be given to 1.5 crore people – 9% of the population.

The trial vaccination will begin by 27 January at Kurmitola Hospital. After observing the vaccinated people for one week, nationwide vaccine drive will begin on 8 February.
