22 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,537 new cases in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has confirmed 22 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Tuesday 8:00am.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 5,577, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the last 24 hours, 1,537 people tested positive for Covid-19 which takes the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country to 3,81,275.
Of the deceased patients, 17 were men and five were women. Moreover, 15 of them hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, and two from Rangpur divisions.
All of them died in different hospitals.
Meanwhile, 14,021 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 13,815 were tested in 109 labs across the country. So far 2,098,037 samples have been tested.
The latest day's infection rate was 11.13% of the total tests, although the overall infection rate in the country to date was 18.17% and the death rate was 1.46%.
The DGHS said 1,482 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 295,873. Currently the recovery rate in the country is 77.60%.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,292 of the deceased were men, and 1,285 were women.
The country's first cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
