Covid-19 kills 15 more, infects 1,527
Fatalities from the virus reach 5,623
Bangladesh reported 15 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours until early Friday.
Fatalities from the virus reached 5,623, and the death rate stood at 1.46%, reads a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the past 24 hours, 1,527 people tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 386,086.
And 13,577 samples were tested in 109 labs over the same period. Overall, 2,140,129 samples have been tested in Bangladesh since the detection of the first cases.
The latest daily infection rate was 11.25%, while the overall rate stood at 18.04%.
However, the number of recovered patients reached 300,738 – including 1,509 new ones in the last 24 hours – and the recovery rate rose to 77.89%.
Of the deceased, 13 were men and two women. And twelve of them were from Dhaka division, one each from Chattogram, Khulna and Rangpur.
So far, 4,327 men and 1,296 women in Bangladesh have died from Covid-19.
The country first detected Covid-19 cases on 8 March this year and reported the first death from the virus on 18 March.
