Covid-19 death toll hits 100 in Narayanganj

Till 8:00am on June 18, the death toll was 99. Later, a 35 years old man died from coronavirus infection, according to the Civil Surgeon Office of the district

Covid-19 death toll hits 100 in Narayanganj

The number of deaths from coronavirus infection in Narayanganj reached 100 on June 18, with the first death taking place on March 30.

Till 8:00am on June 18, the death toll was 99. Later, a 35 years old man of Hajiganj M Circus area under Narayanganj City Corporation died, according to the Civil Surgeon Office of the district. 

However, the government enumeration puts the death towards the beginning of April, as the test report of the deceased woman came positive on April 2. So death count in the district officially began in April.

According to the government estimate, a total of 42 people died from the viral infection in April. After the first death, 50 people died in the next 33 days. 

Covid-19 took lives of 38 people in the district in May. Then from the beginning of June till the 18th of the month, 20 more people died from the infection.

In April and May, a total of 2,648 people were infected with the virus while 766 of them recovered. 

A total of 4,490 people have been infected with Covid-19 in Narayanganj since April. Of them, 1,986 have recovered. 

On Friday, samples of 21,498 people in the district were collected for coronavirus test.
