Bangladesh confirmed 37 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 3,694 and the death rate is 1.32 percent, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the last 24 hours, 2,595 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the infection rate was 20.72 percent.
The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 279,144.
The overall infection rate is 20.46 percent, according to the press release.
In the last 24 hours, 12,523 samples were tested in 86 labs across the country. So far, more than 13.64 lakh samples have been tested.
Among the deceased, 28 were men and nine women. Moreover, 20 of them were from Dhaka division, six from Khulna, four from Chattogram, three each from Rajshahi and Rangpur, and one from Barishal.
Thirty-one of them died in different hospitals across the country and six at their homes.
Of the deceased, three were between 31 and 40 years old, eight between 41 and 50, eight between 51 and 60, while 18 were above 60 years old.
In the past 24 hours, 1,641 patients were declared recovered from the novel coronavirus, with the total number of recoveries reaching 160,591. The recovery rate is around 57.53 percent.
As per the gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims in the last 24 hours, 78.99 percent were men and 21.01 percent women.
Of the total killed: 1,768 were from Dhaka division, 841 from Chattogram, 295 from Khulna, 243 from Rajshahi, 174 from Sylhet, 151 from Rangpur, 142 from Barishal, and 80 from Mymensingh division.
