Bangladesh has logged 32 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Monday at 8am.
The number of fatalities from the virus in the country has reached 7,312, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the meantime, 1,470 people have tested positive for Covid-19, taking the total number of novel coronavirus cases to 502,183.
The latest day's infection rate was 9.38% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 16.24%. The death rate stands at 1.46%.
At least 2,167 patients recovered from Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 439,694 with an 87.56% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 23 were men and nine were women. Thirty of them died in different hospitals across the country while two died at home.
Moreover, 15 of them hailed from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, one each from Rajshahi, Khulna and Rangpur, and three each from the Barishal and Sylhet divisions.
Meanwhile, 15,669 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,091,349 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 5,575 of the total deaths were of men and 1,737 were of women.
The country's first Covid-19 case was reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
Global deaths cross 17 lakh
Globally, the deadly virus has killed at least 1,701,797 people since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to the Worldometer at 8:00am GMT on Monday.
At least 77,274,430 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Of them, 54,208,760 have recovered so far.
