The number of daily Covid-19 cases and deaths has increased in the last 24 hours till Monday 8am with 1,683 new cases.
On 3 November, a total 1,659 people tested Covid-19 positive. Since then, though the number had been decreasing, the daily cases have reached the 1,600 mark again after five days.
In the last 24 hours there were 25 deaths due to Covid-19.
Previously, on 2 November, 25 people died, however, in the following five days, daily deaths were below 20.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the overall number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 4,21,921 and death toll stands at 6,092.
The latest day's infection rate was 11.99% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 17.17%. The death rate stands at 1.44%.
Among the latest day's victims, 17 were men and eight were women who died in different hospitals across the country.
Of the deceased: 10 hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, three from Khulna and Sylhet, and two each from Mymensingh and Barishal.
Meanwhile, 14,042 samples were tested in 115 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 24,56,644 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 1,623 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 3,39,768. Therefore, the recovery rate is 80.53%.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,688 of the total deceased were men and 1,404 were women.
A total 150 patients suspected of having Covid-19 were taken into isolation while 94 left isolation in the last 24 hours. Now, 12,198 people are staying in different isolation units across the country.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
