Bangladesh saw 34 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours ending at 8am Friday. 

With this, fatalities from the virus stood at 3,591 and the death rate at 1.32 percent.

Of the deceased, 28 were men and six women. Eighteen of them were from Dhaka division, four each from Rajshahi and Sylhet; two each from Chattogram, Rangpur, and Mymensingh, and one each from Khulna and Barishal.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the latest numbers in a press release issued on the day. 

The official data showed that so far 2,841 men died from the virus, which is 79.11 percent of total deaths while 750 women succumbed to it, which is 20.89 percent of total death. 

Also, 2,766 people tested Covid-19 positive against 12,856 samples tested in 87 authorised labs across the country in the last 24 hours.

The daily infection rate was 21.52 percent while the overall infection rate stood at 20.46 percent.

With the new cases, the total confirmed cases rose to 271,881, according to the DGHS.

The virus has killed 757,776 people and infected 21,095,488 globally till Friday afternoon, according to Worldometer.
