Covid-19: 345 armed forces members infected, 6 dead
To date, 3,194 samples have been tested in Armed Forces Institute of Pathology under its own management
Six present and retired members of the Armed Forces have died from Covid-19 infection and 88 infected have fully recovered so far, said the Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Monday.
345 present and retired members of the armed forces and their families members have been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Dhaka so far after being infected with Covid-19, said a press release of ISPR.
Of the deceased, four were retired and in their 70s. All of them had other health complications alongside the Covid-19 infection.
After the very beginning of the Covid-19 infection in Bangladesh, adequate measures have been taken by the Bangladesh Army for the treatment of virus infected members of the armed forces.
Necessary steps were taken in this regard at the Combined Military Hospitals (CMH) of all cantonments including Dhaka CMH.
There are three RT-PCR machines at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and 10 at the CMHs in other cantonments for the novel coronavirus testing of authorized members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and their families.
To date, 3194 samples have been tested in AFIP under its own management.
All CMHs also have adequate stock of medical equipment including PPE, masks, gloves and necessary medicines. Presence of trained physicians in CMHs all the time is also being ensured.
