Coast Guard donates one-day salary to PM's relief fund

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has donated one-day salary to the Prime Minister's relief fund to help the destitute and distressed people of coastal areas affected by the coronavirus.

Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Coast Guard Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq handed over a cheque to the prime minister's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikus on April 5 at the PM's office.

The Coast Guard conveyed the information on April 6 through a press release.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina participated in the programme through video conference from Ganabhaban.

The director general of the Coast Guard outlined the steps taken by the Bangladesh Coast Guard to prevent the spread of the virus, and pointed out that every member of the force is ready to deal with any situation.

He also said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has distributed food relief to 2500 destitute families of the coastal areas and will continue to do so in the future.
