City Bank distributes food among 1 lakh poor

The City Bank is distributing relief goods among poor people who are hard-hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

The bank is providing relief bags, each containing 10 kilograms of rice and other essential food items to 20,000 families at eight points in the country, said a press release on Wednesday.

It is estimated that some 100,000 people will receive relief goods from this initiative.

The bank's Chairman Aziz Al Kaiser is leading this effort with the help of the management of the bank.

In this regard, to raise a fund, the bank's staff donated their one-day salary, and its board of directors also contributed another large amount to this fund.

The bank's Managing Director Mashrur Arefin is supervising the relief distribution works.

They are now distributing relief goods in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Sylhet, Bogura, Noakhali, Tangail, and Cumilla districts.

Besides, more than 3000 families of 13 districts under Dhaka Range of Bangladesh Police also received the bank's relief goods through Uttaran Foundation, a social organisation founded by Habibur Rahman, DIG of Dhaka Range.
