China Harbour stands beside coronavirus-hit people

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC), an international Chinese company, provided foods and safety materials for poor people in Mirsarai Upazila of Chattogram district.

They distributed 5 tonnes of rice, flour, potato and lentils, 1,000 liters of edible oil, 1,000 pieces of soap and 5,000 pieces of surgical masks, said a press release.

Wan Yanchao, project manager of the company handed over the relief materials to Ruhul Amin, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and Md Jasim Uddin, chairman, Mirsarai upazila at the Upazila Parishad office on Sunday. 

Md Shahed Ramjan, coordinator manager of China Harbour was also present on the occasion.

Fu Xiuquan, managing director of CHEC Bangladesh said, ''It is our moral and social responsibility to help those who are the worst sufferers from the coronavirus pandemic.'' 

''This small effort is a symbol of our commitment to the community where we are working,'' he said.

CHEC has been continuing its operation in Bangladesh for the last 30 years.
