Chattogram's Raozan and Fatikchhari upazila under lockdown

Chattogram's Raozan and Fatikchhari upazilas have been declared to be under lockdown to prevent social transmission of coronavirus.

Fatikchhari will remain under lockdown from 3 pm on Thursday until further notice, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Saidul Arefin, after the first corona infection was detected in the upazila.

Besides, Jonaid Kabir Sohag, UNO of Raozan, said, "Raozan upazila has been declared to be under lockdown from 7pm on Thursday until further notice as per the district administration's instructions. A public notice has already been issued in this regard."

Earlier, Satkania, Lohagara, Banshkhali and Hathazari upazilas of Chattogram were also brought under lockdown.

According to the public notice issued on Thursday morning, "No person or vehicle will be able to leave the upazila by road, boat or any other means until further notice. No one can come from any other upazila.

"Besides, all kinds of vehicles and public gatherings are prohibited. Movement from one area to another will be strictly limited," the notice reads.

However, during the lockdown, the above guidelines will remain relaxed for persons and vehicles engaged in emergency services including electricity, gas, internet, banking, treatment and medicine supply, transportation of daily necessities and transportation of agricultural products.
