Chattogram’s Covid-19 cases cross 3,500

The total number of coronavirus infected patients in Chattogram has crossed 3,500, with 140 new patients in the last 24 hours.

The number of patients suffering from Covid-19 in Chattogram is now 3,537, according to the information released by Chattogram Civil Surgeon Office on Wednesday night.

So far, 85 people died from coronavirus in Chattogram. In the last 24 hours, two people died from the virus in the district.

Among the 140 newly identified cases, 86 people are from Chattogram city and the remaining 54 are from different upazilas.

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, some 158 samples were tested at the Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) on Wednesday where 29 new Covid-19 patients were identified. At Chittagong Medical College Hospital some 227 samples were tested where 75 positive cases were found and in Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) lab 36 Covid-19 cases were identified from 146 samples.

The first coronavirus patient in Chattogram was identified on April 3.
