bKash provides food for 5,000 virus-hit families
The country's top mobile financial service provider bKash has carried out a food relief programme.
Through this programme, 5,000 virus-hit families are expected to receive food aid and the company spent Tk35 lakh to this respect.
The relief will be distributed by army personnel under the supervision of Sena Kalyan Sangstha (SKS), said a media statement on Monday.
Kamal Quadir, chief executive officer of bKash handed over the relief materials to Brigadier General Munshi Mizanur Rahman, director general of Sena Kalyan Sangstha on Monday at the headquarters of SKS.
Under this programme, each family will receive 5kg rice, 1kg pulse, 1kg salt, 1 liter oil, 1kg sugar, 0.5kg vermicelli (semai), and 2 bars of soap.
This food aid is expected to help a 4-member beneficiary family survive for 10 days at least.
Considering that the food aid will bring some relief to the families who are in deep crises due to the lockdown, bKash has taken this move before the id-ul-Fitr, media statement read.
