Bangladesh urges KSA to create OIC Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund
Foreign minister also requested investors of KSA to invest in livestock sector of Bangladesh
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has sought support from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to create a voluntary OIC Covid-19 Response and Recovery Fund by the willing member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to a press release.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud made a phone call to Foreign Minister Momen on Wednesday, and the foreign minister requested Prince Faisal to employ Bangladeshi workers in the agriculture sector of Saudi Arabia.
Dr Momen also requested public and private investors of Saudi Arabia to invest in the livestock sector in Bangladesh to process beef and chicken.
Momen also requested his Saudi counterpart to import halal beef and chicken from Bangladesh, reads the press release.
In addition, Dr Momen informed Prince Faisal about Bangladesh's capacity to produce good quality PPEs and expressed Bangladesh's capacity to export them.
Dr Momen also sought Saudi support in repatriating 1.1 million Rohingyas who were forcefully displaced from Myanmar to Bangladesh.
Saudi Foreign Minister enquired about the Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh, and Dr Momen briefed Prince Faisal about the current coronavirus situation in the country.
