Bangladesh Scouts to distribute soap bars to fight Covid-19
Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh has handed over 20,000 soap bars to Bangladesh Scouts
To prevent the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), Bangladesh Scouts is conducting awareness-raising activities across the country in line with Bangladesh government.
Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh (DHPB) has also joined at the initiative to accelerate the programme. And as part of it, the DHPB recently has handed over 20,000 soap bars to Bangladesh Scouts, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
Bangladesh Scouts and DHPB have jointly been working since March 2019 to present the future generation with a tidy, healthy and clean country. Now, they are working jointly to raise awareness among people in the Covid-19 crisis, the statement reads.
The 20,000 soap bars, provided by DHPB, have already been sent to all district administrations and city corporations in the country by Bangladesh Scouts.
Scout members, according to the directive of authorities concerned, will be distributing the bars among impoverished, poor and helpless people all around to maintain the cleanliness.
Besides, they will be working on raising awareness about the proper way of washing hands.
Md Shah Kamal, National Commissioner (Community Development and Health) of Bangladesh Scouts and Senior Secretary of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, said, "Bangladesh, along with the entire world, is going through an imperceptible disaster due to Covid-19 pandemic."
Various awareness-raising activities are adopted by the government and private initiatives. We request you all to follow the health management directives prescribed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the government, he said.
"Stay at home and if you need relief, please contact the local representative or local administration over phone. The government will send aid to the houses of those in need," he added.
Salahuddin Ahmed Tareq, Chief Convener of Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh, said, "We are overwhelmed to be able to work with Bangladesh Scouts during this disaster. Rather than panicking, we should follow proper preventive measures to fight Covid-19."
