Bangladesh reports 1,140 new Covid cases, lowest in 2 months
40 more people die in 24 hours
The number of daily cases fell to a two-month low on Wednesday, with 1,140 fresh infections reported in the last 24 hours.
On 13 March, the daily cases were 1,014 and the number continued to rise since then.
With the latest ones, the total coronavirus cases reached 7,77,397.
Meanwhile, the country reported 40 more deaths from Covid-19 today, hiking the total death toll to 12,045.
The fatality rate was recorded at 1.55% during the period and the positivity rate at 7.45%. said a media statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the latest day's victims, 27 were men, and 13 were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 16 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka Division, 13 from Chattogram, three each from Rangpur and Rajshahi, two each from Khulna and Barishal, and one from Sylhet.
Also, 2,928 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.39% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 8,726 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,319 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
Covid-19 has claimed 3,332,883 lives worldwide and infected 160,372,576 so far, according to the data provided by Worldometer.
