Bangladesh reports 22 more Covid-19 deaths, 1,292 new cases
As of Thursday, the total death count from Covid-19 reached 12,480 in the country
Bangladesh reported 22 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 12,480.
During this period, the fatality rate was 1.57%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 1,292 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the case count to 7,94,985.
In the preceding 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 8.12% after testing 15,915 samples in 497 labs across the country.
Among the latest day's victims, 14 were men, and eight were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, five each of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka, Chattogram and Rajshahi divisions, three from Sylhet, and two each from Ranpur and Barishal divisions.
Also, 1,291 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.47% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 9,019 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,461 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
India recorded 3,847 deaths due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and 211,298 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry dashboard on Thursday morning. With this, the country's total infection tally went up to 27,369,093 and the toll was pushed to 315,235, reports Hindustan Times.
As of Thursday, 3,513,385 people globally succumbed to the viral disease and so far 169,117,337 people contracted the virus, according to data provided by Worldometer.
