Covid-19 claims 28.66 lives per million in Bangladesh
Bangladesh confirms 22 more deaths from Covid-19 in last 24 hours until Friday at 8 am
The death rate among coronavirus patients in the country is 1.41%, and Covid-19 deaths per million people in the country currently stand at 28.66, reads a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
Bangladesh has confirmed 22 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours until Friday at 8 am. The country's death toll from the disease now stands at 4,881, it adds.
In the last 24 hours, 1,541 people tested positive for Covid-19, which brings the total number of novel coronavirus cases in the country to 345,805. And in per million, 2,030.49 people have so far tested positive for Covid-19 in Bangladesh.
The latest day's infection rate was 12.11% while the overall infection rate was 19.25%.
In the same period, 12,814 samples were collected and 12,730 were tested in 95 laboratories across the country. So far, 1,7 96,509 samples have been tested in the country.
Some 1,923 patients have recovered from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 252,335. The recovery rate currently stands at 72.97%.
The country is now in its 28th week of infection after the first cases were detected on March 8 this year. The first death from the virus was reported 10 days later, on March 18.
Of the deceased patients in the last one day: 16 were men and six were women. Moreover, 13 of them hailed from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, two from Sylhet, one each from Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur and Mymensingh division.
Twenty-one of them have died in different hospitals,while the remaining one died at home.
So far, 3,804 men and 1,077 women have died from Covid-19 across the country.
Division-wise, 2,382 of the deceased hailed from Dhaka division, 1,021 from Chattogram, 413 from Khulna, 329 from Rajshahi, 230 from Rangpur, 220 from Sylhet, 183 from Barisal, and 103 from Mymensingh.
