Health Minister Zahid Maleque today said that Bangladesh will get more 10 lakh doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine under COXAX facility GAVI by August.

The minister said that progress also has been made in vaccine negotiations with Russia.

"Besides, the agreement with China has been completed on behalf of the country. The next step will be announced as soon as a reply, received from China," he said while taking part in an unscheduled briefing at the Secretariat this afternoon.

"At least 5 lakh people could be vaccinated right now as there is stock of 11 lakh vaccines, including 6 lakh vaccines gifted by China," he added.
