An Awami League-backed councilor candidate of the Chattogram City Corporation election died of coronavirus symptoms.
Hossain Murad, 50, was the councilor candidate of ward-37.
General secretary of the Awami League unit of the ward, MA Mannan, said, he died at around 7:45 am on Wednesday at his Munshipara residence. Murad was in home-quarantine as one of his tenants tested positive for the virus. His sample was collected three days ago. The report is yet to come.
Murad had been suffering from high body temperature for the last two days. His respiratory problem increased this morning.
He said on Tuesday night that he had not got the test report.
