8 more die at RMCH corona unit

Eight people, including four Covid-19 patients, have died in the corona care facility of the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) on Thursday.

Among the deceased, four others died with Covid-19 symptoms.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani confirmed the matter and said, "These people have died in the past 24 hours while undergoing treatment at the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) and Covid-19 unit."

"Five of the eight latest victims hailed from Rajshahi and three from Chapainawabganj Chapainawabganj," he added.

With the admission of 35 more patients, the number of patients in the hospital has increased to 277 which is more than the hospital's management capacity. As a result, RMCH authorities are struggling to provide quality healthcare.

At present, the coronavirus infection rate in Rajshahi stands at 40%.
