8 more Covid-19 deaths, 406 new cases
The day's infection rate was 2.85% of the total tests
Bangladesh confirmed eight more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,337, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the last 24 hours, 406 people tested positive for Covid-19, putting the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country to 542,674.
The latest day's infection rate was 2.85% of the total tests, and the overall rate in the country till date was 13.83%. The death rate stands at 1.54%.
Among the eight deceased, six were men and two were women. Of them, one was between 21-30 years old, one within 41-50, two between 51-60 and four were above 60 years old, added the release.
Moreover, four of them hailed from Dhaka, and three from Chattogram, one from Barishal. All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 14,232 samples were tested in 214 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,922,489 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 536 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 490,468 with a 90.38% recovery rate.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
