8 doctors, 19 health workers tested positive with coronavirus in Gazipur

A total number of 31 people, including seven doctors and six health workers, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday in Gazipur. 

Among them - 23 are from Kaliganj upazila, six are from sadar upazila and two doctors of KPJ Specialized Hospital.

Earlier on Wednesday, one more doctor and 13 health workers were tested positive for the virus.

With this, a total of 110 people, including eight doctors and 19 health workers, are now infected with the virus in Gazipur. 

Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shibli Sadiq said, "Samples were collected from some 51 people and sent to IEDCR for coronavirus test on Thursday. 23 among them were found coronavirus positive."

Kapasia Hospital authorities said, 13 health workers of their hospital were tested positive for coronavirus.

Kapasia Health and Family Planning Officer Abdus Salam said, "All the coronavirus infected health workers are now in isolation."

Gazipur Civil Surgeon Md Khairuzzaman said, "142 were tested and 31 coronavirus patients were detected in last 24 hours."

Death toll from the deadly virus has risen to 60 in Bangladesh as of Thursday and a total of 1,572 people have been infected so far.

About 2,158,250 people around the world have been infected with the deadly virus and 144,243 deaths were reported globally till date.
