8 buildings locked down in Chattogram

Authorities have locked down eight buildings and three shops in Chattogram's Halisahar, Sitakunda and Sagorika area after three patients from those areas were tested positive with the novel coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Abdul Waris and Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Milton Ray confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
The coronavirus patient in Sagorika area has been identified as a 45 years old RMG worker. The patient in Shapla Residential Area is a 40 years old housewife and the patient in Sitakunda is a bank employee aged around 50.
"After a patient from Sitakunda was tested positive with the virus, we have locked down the building he lived in, along with 5 other buildings and 3 shops in Uttar Bazar Godown Road of the municipality (Paurashava)," Milton Ray said.
"We tested samples of 60 suspected patients on Wednesday. Among them, results of three samples came positive," Chattogram Divisional health services Director Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir told The Business Standard.
The port city reported its first coronavirus patient, a 67-year old person, on April 3.
