Covid claims 7 more lives, 366 new cases

Bangladesh confirmed seven more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,356, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 366 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 543,717.

The latest day's infection rate was 3.30% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 13.73%. The death rate stands at 1.54%.

Among the latest day's victims, 4 were men and 3 were women.

Moreover, 5 of them hailed from Dhaka, and one each from Rajshahi, and Barishal divisions.

All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, 11,103 samples were tested in 214 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,958,776 samples have been tested in the country so far.

Also, 692 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 492,059 with a 90.50% recovery rate.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 6,325 of the total deceased were men and 2,031 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
