Another member of the police has died today from the virus infection taking the death toll to nine till date in the force

Police Headquarters reported 64 new cases of Covid-19 infection in the law enforcement agency on Monday. 

As of Monday, some 2,621 police personnel have been infected with the virus, of which 1,097 cases are reported from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone. 

Meanwhile, another member of the police has died today from the virus infection taking the death toll to nine till date in the force. 

The victim is Md Mojibur Rahman Talukder, 56, a sub-inspector of Special Branch's Paltan zone-1, said a press release of police headquarters.

Some 410 cops have recovered from the virus, while some 1,210 are taking treatment in isolation and  3,395 are in quarantine.

Bangladesh today confirmed highest single-day 21 deaths from the novel coronavirus and 1,602 new cases of infection testing 9,788 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 349 and the number of total infections stood at 23,870. Some 212 patients recovered during this time.
