5 houses in Barishal’s Ujirpur municipality under lockdown

The local administration put five houses of Ujirpur municipality in Barishal under lockdown from Monday night after finding a person with coronavirus symptoms.

Local people said, a fruit trader, 60, of Kalir Bajar of the municipality caught by fever, throat pain and respiratory problem. Then, he came to his home from Barishal town two days ago. His health condition deteriorated on Sunday. The local people informed the matter to upazila administration.

Ujirpur municipality Mayor Giyas Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Pranati Biswas, upazila health and family welfare officer Shawkat Ali visited the fruit trader's house on Monday. Shawkat Ali advised him to stay in home-quarantine. Then he made the announcement of lockdown and red flags were hoisted in five houses.

"We will collect the blood sample of the sick man on Tuesday morning and send it to Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for test, Shawkat Ali said.

UNO Pranati Biswas also confirmed the matter.
