5 deaths, 404 new cases reported in 24hrs
Among the latest day’s victims, four were men and one was a woman
Bangladesh logged five more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am Friday.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,253, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the meantime, 404 people have tested positive for Covid-19. The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 5,39,975.
The latest day's infection rate was 2.82% of the total tests and the death rate stands at 1.53%.
Meanwhile, 422 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 486,393 with a 90.08% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, four were men and one was a woman. All of them died in different hospitals across the country.
Four of them hailed from Dhaka and one from Chattogram.
Meanwhile, 14,328 samples were tested in 210 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 38,22,345 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The country's first Covid-19 case was reported on 8 March, 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
