Covid-19 cases rise close to 3 lakh

Bangladesh confirmed 42 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending at 8am Monday.
The total fatalities from the virus reached 3,983 and death rate stood at 1.34 percent.
In the last 24 hours, 2,485 people tested Covid-19 positive, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 297,083.
And the daily infection rate was 18.57 percent, although the overall rate in the country stood at 20.40 percent.
The total number of recovered patients stood at 182,875 including 3,784 new ones in the last 24 hours. And the recovery rate rose to 61.56 percent.
And 13,382 samples were tested in 91 labs across the country. So far 1,456,038 samples have been tested.
A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday revealed the latest numbers.
Among the deceased, 31 were men and 11 women. And 21 of them were from Dhaka division, seven from Chattogram, six from Khulna, three from Rajshahi, two each from Rangpur and Mymensingh, and one from Barishal.
Up to now, 3,137 men and 846 women have died from Covid-19 across the country.
Of them, 1,920 were from Dhaka division, 880 from Chattogram, 322 from Khulna, 270 from Rajshahi, 184 from Sylhet, 167 from Rangpur, 155 from Barishal, and 85 from Mymensingh.
Bangladesh confirmed the first Covid-19 cases on March 8, and first death on March 18.
