•    Total recovery: 385,786
•    Total sample test: 2,804,174


Bangladesh registered 38 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8am.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,713, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, 2,198 people tested positive for the virus afresh during the past 24 hours, raising the toll to 469,423.

The latest day's infection rate was 13.76% of the total tests although the national rate till date is 16.78%. The death rate stands at 1.43%.

Also, 2,562 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 385,786 at a rate of 82.18%.

Among the latest day's victims, 25 were men and 13 women while 37 of them died in different hospitals across the country and one at home.

Again, 30 of them hailed from Dhaka, four from Chattogram, two from Rangpur and one each from Rajshahi and Khulna divisions.

Meanwhile, 15,972 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of tests to 2,804,174 so far.

The gender breakdown shows that 5,141 of the total deceased were men and 1,572 women.

The country's maiden Covid-19 cases were reported on 8 March this year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
