Bangladesh confirmed 34 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Sunday.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 3,941, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the last 24 hours, 1,973 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 294,598.
Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 cases on March 8 and the first death from the coronavirus on March 18.
Of the 34 deceased, 24 were men and 10 women. Eighteen of them hailed from Dhaka, four each from Rajshahi and Sylhet, five from Chattogram, one from Barishal, and two from Rangpur.
Thirty-one of them died in different hospitals, while three at their respective residences.
Meanwhile, 10,959 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 10,801 samples were tested in 91 labs across the country. So far, 1442,656 samples have been tested in Bangladesh.
The latest day's infection rate was 18.27 percent of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country to date was 20.42 percent. The death rate was 1.34 percent, according to the press release.
A total of 3,524 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 179,091 and the recovery rate 60.7 percent.
A gender breakdown of the Covid-19 victims shows that 3,106 or 78.81 percent of the total were men, and 835 or 21.19 percent were women.
While talking about division-wise fatalities: 1,899 hailed from Dhaka division, 873 from Chattogram, 316 from Khulna, 267 from Rajshahi, 184 from Sylhet, 165 from Rangpur, 154 from Barishal and 83 from Mymensingh division.
