Three upazilas of Lakshmipur district have been locked down again due to an alarming increase of coronavirus cases in the areas.

The lockdown will be effective from June 15 in Ramgati, Kamalnagar upazilas and in Ramganj upazila from June 16 and will continue till June 30.

The matter was confirmed by the respective Upazila Nirbahi Officers on Saturday.

The movement of all types of vehicles are banned and shops and shopping malls will remain closed in all unions under the upazilas during the lockdown.

Only drug stores, ambulances and drug transporting vehicles will remain out of purview of the restriction, said a press release signed by Kamalnagar UNO Md Mobarak Hossain and Ramgati UNO Md Abdul Momin.

Meanwhile, the Lakshmipur Civil Surgeon's Office said on Saturday evening that 39 more Covid-19 patients were identified in the district.

With this, the number of infected patients in the district stood at 417. A total of six people died from Covid-19 in Lakshmipur.
