3 areas in Gazipur to be locked down from midnight
Except for emergency services, all types of public transport, shops, and offices will remain shut in those areas until further notice

Three wards of Kaliganj municipality of Gazipur have been declared as red zones due to the increase in coronavirus cases in the areas.
These areas will go under lockdown starting from 12am on Saturday, and remain so until further notice.
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shibli Sadiq said Gazipur Deputy Commissioner SM Tariqul Islam has declared ward numbers 4, 5 and 6 of the municipality as red zones.
He said 30,000 people live in those three wards. In the last 14 days, 19 people in the areas were diagnosed with coronavirus. So far, a total of 67 people have been infected in those three wards and the infection rate is 63 per 1 lakh people.
UNO Shibli Sadiq also added that except for emergency services, all types of public transport, shops, and offices will remain shut in those areas during the lockdown. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the area. All branching roads will be closed.
There will be check posts at the Kapasia junction, Baligaon and Kadamtali areas to ensure stringent implementation of the lockdown. If someone needs to get out of the area in case of an emergency, they have to get out through the check post.
Ambulances will be allowed to transport patients and drug stores will remain open.
Essential commodities and groceries will be sold and supplied in different places of the area using rickshaw vans.
