2 patients flee coronavirus isolation ward in Barishal

Two patients, including a woman, have fled from the coronavirus isolation unit of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Hospital authorities have filed two complaints to the police station in this regard today. The patients were from Barguna and Bhola districts.

Confirming the matter, hospital's director Dr SM Bakir Hossain said, "The female patient got admitted to the hospital with fever, cold, cough and respiratory problem on April 5. She was kept in the coronavirus isolation ward of the hospital, from where she fled on April 6. Another male patient was admitted on April 4 with same problems. He also fled from the isolation ward on April 7.

"Their samples were sent to the IEDCR for coronavirus test. The reports were supposed to arrive here on Thursday. But they fled before we could be confirmed whether they had the virus infection or not," the hospital director added.

Kotwali Model Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Nurul Islam said, "We have contacted Barguna and Bhola police stations. They said the patients are currently staying at their homes. They have been prohibited to go out."
