Bangladesh logged 528 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus and 17 more deaths in the last 24 hours till Wednesday 8am.
The country's death toll from Covid-19 now stands at 8,072 and the death rate stands at 1.51%, according to the data released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest day's infection rate was 3.36% of the total tests, though the country's overall rate till date was 14.82%.
The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 533,444.
Also, 509 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 477,935 with an 89.59% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, eight were men and nine were women. Moreover, 13 of them hailed from Dhaka, two from Chattogram and one from Rangpur division.
All the deceased died in different hospitals across the country.
Meanwhile, 15,932 samples were tested in 118 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,600,508 samples have been tested in the country so far.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 6,115 of the total deaths were men and 1,957 were women.
79 patients suspected of having Covid-19 were taken into isolation, while 159 left isolation in the last 24 hours. 10,570 people are now staying in different isolation units nationwide.
The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 last year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
