Bangladesh has logged 15 more deaths from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the last 24 hours until Friday 8am.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 6,036, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the meantime, 1,469 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
Now, the overall number of novel coronavirus cases in the country stands at 417,475.
The latest day's infection rate was 10.86% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 17.26%. The death rate stands at 1.45%.
Among the latest day's victims, 11 were men and four were women. Eight of them hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram and one each from the Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.
All the deceased died in hospital.
Meanwhile, 13,521 samples were tested in 114 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 2,418,423 samples have been tested in the country so far.
Also, 1,439 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 335,027 with an 80.25% recovery rate.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 4,646 of the total deceased were men while 1,390 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March this year, and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
