Bangladesh confirmed 14 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 7,833, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 890 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 524,910.

The latest day's infection rate was 5.66% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date was 15.43%. The death rate stands at 1.49%.

Also, 841 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 469,522 with an 89.45% recovery rate.

Among the latest day's victims, six were men and eight were women. 13 of them died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

Moreover, 10 of them hailed from Dhaka, two from Chattogram and one each from Sylhet and Khulna divisions.

Meanwhile, 15,727 samples were tested in 199 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,401,506 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims' shows that 5,943 of the total deceased were men and 1,890 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.

The world has entered in the 13th month of the pandemic. At the time of writing, the virus has infected more than 92,091,528 people and close to 1,972,342 people died.
